Today’s listening is ‘A Tear In The Eye Is A Wound In The Heart’, the 2012 album by Black Prairie.
Take the member of The Decemberists.
Subtract the male lead singer/guitarist (Colin Meloy).
Add a female lead singer/violinist (Annalisa Tornfelt).
Result: Black Prairie.
This is a really good album, though perhaps there are a few too many instrumental tracks for my tastes.
Annoyingly it’s one of those records that plays at 45rpm yet nowhere does it say that!
Today’s listening is ‘Fortune’, the 2014 album by Black Prairie.
Black Prairie were, essentially, the members of The Decemberists except with a female lead singer (Annalisa Tornfelt, who also plays the violin) instead of Colin Meloy.
This was their last album and they went out in style, this being a solid collection of tunes, musically leaning towards the more ‘American folk’ end of things.
Well worth a listen!
