Why? Well, compare to the dates of Canadian wildfire smoke affecting the USA. We're always told that respiratory virus cases increase in winter because people spend more time indoors ....
The current heat wave in the southern USA can't be helping either.
And the smoke won't clear for probably weeks or months.
