@ascentale @bikenite A8. My ~20 year experiment with providing a habitat for monarch butterflies has been paying off! After the recent hatching, I found another caterpillar. #BikeNight

@ascentale @pete @bikenite A3. I run tubes, from what I’ve seen messing with sealant does not appeal.

I’ve had butyl tubes forever, but bought some cheap TPU tubes a while back, hoping that they would leak less, but they pretty much leak the same.

Since I mainly ride on pavement, I have mostly slick tires. But on the bike I’m rebuilding, I will go with more tread on “gravel” tires. #BikeNight

@yantor3d @ascentale @xtaran @bikenite oh, I’ve had two flats with non working pumps, two more long walks home… #BikeNight
@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite A2. Other than me, I’ve broken a derailure cable (annoying), and broke two chain links (the first I got a ride home, the second was a long was a long walk in cleats). My bike has been rideable after several crashes, so annoying but no breakage). #BikeNight
@ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite A1. Santa Clara, CA. Definitely a fair weather cyclist here. But with all outdoor activities in coastal California, there is no season. I do wait until it warms up to around 50F, or cools below 95F, and take the day off if it is raining, but that’s it. No need for studs, nor fenders, just sunscreen! (Yes we do miss out on the white stuff, but in a few hours of driving we can have that if we want.) #BikeNight

@ascentale @bikenite A8. I needed a break from the chaos, so I rode up to Alviso, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while enjoying the view. #BikeNight
@ascentale @meganL @bikenite A4. Keep it away from salt water, and make that any non-aluminum parts are adequately insulated from the aluminum (or they will start a very cozy relationship, effectively welding them together until the aluminum corrodes to the point of failure). Keeping it clean can’t hurt either. #BikeNight
@ascentale @SamUpstate @bikenite A2. I don’t, but I did follow a bike that mounted a flag. How? She used an old patio umbrella stand. I think she cut it down so that she could bolt it to the top of her rack, then she was able to mount a flag on perhaps an old broom handle. It worked very well. #BikeNight
@ascentale @bikenite A8. No picture, but I got a brief glance at a bike leaving a local sports bar. It appeared to be an antique, with a 3” or so curved sign attached to the front fender, and I think brown leather saddle bags? Like you might expect on a motorcycle, but it was just a bike. It looked very nice and shiny. #BikeNight
