I hate that #TheBitterSoutherner doesn't have an RSS feed, and I dont expect they'll move over here anytime soon, but I still get their emails so I haven't completely lost touch. Treated myself to an early Xmas gift, which arrived today: Volume 5 of The Bitter Southerner Reader.

The Bitter Southerner's best Southern albums list is one of my favorite annual events, in which I consistently find a diverse range of great new music that wouldn't have hit my radar otherwise. True to BS's mission, it defies lazy stereotypes of what "Southern" can and should mean.
This year's list includes a personal fave (Ghetto Gods), a couple I knew via my music snob son, and bunch of new-to-me to explore.
