I found her to have full capacity for the two specific decisions I was assessing her for, and I left her at home on completion of my assessment.
She continues to live stream herself taking overdoses and continues to decline medical attention.
The Trust are unhappy because she might die. I am also unhappy that she might die, but I also respect her right to do so as she retains capacity for that decision that I and most other people consider unwise.
“We can make her go to hospital in her best interests!” they declare.
No, actually, we can’t. Not whilst she retains capacity.
The Trust don’t like this and frankly, I don’t care.
I believe that at this time, I am in fact acting in her #BestInterests by upholding her right to make her own decisions.
Capacity is time and decision specific and at the time I assessed her she demonstrated full capacity. That may well change at some point, but right now it is what it is.
