It's a really strange thing, but . . . even now, some eighteen years after the fact, my eyes still tear up when I read about the passing of Andreas Katsulas. He was such a giant. JMS describes him as "larger than life", and he really was. His performances were so powerful, so memorable, that it's hard to imagine something as pedestrian as cancer could claim him. It's like i still can't quite believe he's dead. It just doesn't seem possible.

Truer words about 9/11 were never written. This from #JMS 's autobiography #BecomingSuperman :

"Already, the brutal murder of over three thousand innocents was being politicized to curtail civil rights, whip up prejudices, and broaden the war to those who had nothing to do with the attack but were more politically convenient. But none of that changed the fact that an act of unspeakable horror had been perpetrated and those responsible needed to be called out by every voice in the nation."

Light and funny in some places, this autobiography is surprisingly dark and heavy and powerful in other places. I just finished the first chapter (this is my second time around reading it) and I ended up staring at the second-to-last sentence for a few minutes until I snapped out of it.

How incredibly fucked up is that?

My #Top5 favourite books that I've read in 2022.

#BecomingSuperman by J Michael Straczynski
#Illborn by Daniel T Jackson
#TheWisemansFear by Patrick Rothfuss
#TheGreatHunt by Robert Jordan
#TheHobbit by JRR Tolkien

@john_w_kennedy Oh wow, yeah. That book blew me away. His writing through Babylon 5 literally changed my life as a kid, and reading his biography did it all over again.

I wrote a review of that too, actually.
