3/3 Ultimately it drank rather well. It certainly needed food. It's not the easy, simple style of some CdPs. 13.5% alc. $37 then. For new vintages, more like $80s today #wine #chateauneufdupape #beaucastel

2/2 It's better than most older CdPs I've been having.

This Beau is probably a good example of an interesting wine that won’t be to everyone’s taste. Needs food! I was idly thinking, though, I liked the '98 L'Aiguelière Montpeyroux that I posted on a few weeks back much better. They have vaguely similar styles. The big-name label won't always win.

So exciting! We just heard from the TTB and have received federal approval of the 14th and final #grape in the #Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape collection: #Muscardin. As is normal with these petitions, the final approval will come when it's entered into the congressional record along with other newly-approved grapes sometime in the next few years. But please welcome Muscardin as the 348th approved grape for use in American wine!
