“When I was younger, I didn’t know how to handle the situation. I asked my mother if I could still play soccer”: Alisha Lehmann’s outburst.

When I was younger, I didn’t know how to handle the situation. There were times when I was really sad and I asked my mother if I could still play soccer. Alisha Lehmann opens up about it to BBC Sport in a lengthy interview. The Swiss athlete – formerly with Douglas Luiz – is a soccer player but also an influencer, boasting almost 16 million followers on Instagram and another 11.8 million on TikTok. This is why her career as a soccer player – explains Lehmann – is sometimes almost “misunderstood.”

“Soccer is the thing I love the most and have dedicated the most time to. I sleep very well, I sleep every afternoon, and I would never do anything before a training session or a game that could affect my performance. I care about it very much,” explains Lehmann, who then clarifies: “People have no idea of the commitment I put in when they say ‘Oh, she’s not a soccer player.’ It’s sometimes frustrating,” she told BBC Sport. “People don’t see all the effort I put in. They think I train and then go home to make videos on TikTok, but that’s not true.”

Alisha Lehmann played in Italy before with Juventus – just when her ex-boyfriend Douglas Luiz was acquired by Juventus – and then with Como the following year. Today she plays with Leicester: “I am very professional. I always give my best on the field and I want to be the best. If, checking the data after training, I haven’t given my best, I do extra training to try to improve. People can think what they want, but everything I do is aimed at becoming the best possible player.” In conclusion, a thought about her last experience at Como, in Italy: “I signed a long-term contract at Como, but after a month I realized I didn’t like it and I wanted to return to England,” she explains. “I’m very happy here, the soccer is better and England feels like home,” concluded the Swiss soccer player.

Brendon McCullum future as England coach becomes clearer as update emerges

Another poor piece from BBC Sport. No Stephan, just because ONE player from Pakistan has been SIGNED by an IPL invested team, that DOES NOT mean there is no longer a concern about Pakistan players being denied involvement in The Hundred due to their nationality.

That's dangerously naive thinking.

The IPL franchises have more money than occasions I've watched Bride of Frankenstein (1935). It's no skin off their nose for one of the teams to sign a Pakistan player then not play him in the competition.

Have the ECB forensically examined all communications between the Hundred Teams, their backroom staff and the IPL franchises? On all devices, professional and personal?

Only if they have can they say for certain that no anti Pakistan player instruction has been passed that they are aware of.

One bland, carefully worded boilerplate statement isn't going to convince me of anything.

The Hundred doesn't interest me at all. It was bullied through by greed and none of the teams are Counties. Can't blame a sportsperson for trying to make a living but I won't be spending any time or money watching it.

I am a Surrey CCC supporter.
