The Rapid Deployment Capacity #RDC distinguishes itself - in quality and quantity - from the EU #Battlegroups which, despite operational since 2007, were never deployed. With 5,000 soldiers, its composition will be modular and tailor-made to the context of the crisis at hand.

Although the maximum number of troops is limited to 5,000, the ambition level is higher than for the EU #Battlegroups, both in terms of quantity & quality. Measured against all the obstacles European security and defence cooperation has had to overcome, the #RDC is a milestone.
