Boulder Removal to Temporarily Close Barr Trail and Manitou Incline on August 13-14

MANITOU SPRINGS, COLORADO — Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts planning to visit Barr Trail or the Manitou Incline this week will need to adjust their plans, as the U.S. Forest Service will be closing both popular destinations on August 13-14, 2024. The temporary closure is necessary to safely remove a section of a large boulder that has been obstructing Barr Trail since early spring. The boulder, which slid onto the trail during a rain-induced rockslide, has been identified as a significant safety hazard.
