I saw what I thought was two wrens fighting, then noticed that one of them was a big bug.
It turned out to be a Carolina sphinx moth, *Manduca sexta*.

These are what hornworms turn into. I’m leaving this one alone, but I’m still feeding the worms to the chickens.

The distinctive silhouette of a praying mantis perched on a pink cone flower. I'm slowly building up my creative photography muscles and looking for visually appealing backgrounds and lighting instead of just capturing a wildlife portrait. I could have gone full monochrome with the image, but I like the pop of pink for the cone flower.
