Put out a review for another SteamWorld game.

While all of them have felt short, the fact that I'm actually beating them is amazing. I never beat anything.

xox_Buny_x0x's review of SteamWorld Build | Backloggd

An interesting game. Build was the title I was the least enthused about of the SteamWorld anthology. Its the one game not by Image & Form, its from a genre that while I don't dislike, I don't give a lot of play, and its the most oddball genre of a series than genre hops as much as this knr.

When I first bought this, I actually beamed it up among the first, getting the itch. I closed it out a few months later after I fucked up placing my fist building.

I came back to it after beating Dig 2 and Heist 1 and I am glad I did. The two parallel sum games is an interesting hook and the difficulty and pace are such that I was actually able to get through the story campaign.

The city builder on the surface has clearly defined build trees and the necessities of roads to connect everything make a city shaped structure to the whole ordeal. At the end I was zooming around looking for something and was struck by how much my city had grown and how city-like it was.
Below, in the mines is a more straightforward rts. Dig out walls, place structure boundaries, gather resources and make the gathering faster, defend the base, etc. The paring helps in letting you switch out if one becomes boring imo.

The story is pretty bog standard. That it parallels Dig 2's plot timewise does help as it gives a new perspective to the same developments. Its also short, just a handful of hours. There is plenty to do outside of the campaign though as there are a half dozen map styles. The English voice acting is good as well.

One thing of note that I'll point out is that it has excellent console controls. I've played command & conquer 64 and Halo Wars and these are by far the best. Pretty smooth and intuitive. And where they fall short of a Ouse, accordances have been made. Like being able to move buildings for free.

All in all, not the best SteamWorld game, but enjoyable all the same. I might recommend/gift it to my first who likes sim games.

Last night me and my partner finally finished the PS2 Fromsoftware game Cookie & Cream, and let tell you, it was singlehandedly the most difficult and frustrating thing I have ever played. Still had fun.

dogplaygames's review of The Adventures of Cookie & Cream | Backloggd

Besides this being single handedly the most frustratingly difficult and convoluted game I have ever played - I had a good time with this. I played it over the course of a few months with my partner, forced to take long breaks between whether due to my PS3 or personal life.
This game is so obtuse with its puzzles, has some of the least responsive and intuitive mechanics, and yet manages to charm me in a way only FromSoftware can. The end boss and cutscene was rather satisfying to see after such trials and tribulations.

In all honesty though, let’s just play King’s Field next time bro, I would much rather lose my freaking mind over pixelated skeletons than ever have to be on the brink of throwing my controller at the wall because I didn’t understand how a fucking boat worked.

havent been posting about this but i've been 100%ing random games and reviewing them on my backloggd, so here's one i finished and reviewed recently: https://backloggd.com/u/aenthology/review/4230153/

and the image attached is my list and ranking of every game ive beaten this year so far
