But I think my favourite project was this study from Presentation College Headford of the carbon footprint of two GAA clubs in Galway which found that 90% of the carbon emissions associated with the club were from transport, but that car pooling could reduce the carbon emissions by two thirds. #BTYSTE2024 #BTYSTE
Students from Bandon Grammar School, Co. Cork make a very strong case for introducing a requirement to resit a driving test when renewing your licence, especially for older age groups. #BTYSTE2024 #BTYSTE
Students from St Vincent's Secondary School in Dundalk did a very interesting study where they interviewed people about their views on immigration while connected to a polygraph. They found firstly that most people are honest about their views on immigration, and secondly that most people in Ireland are pro-immigration.

Two students from Macroom, Co. Cork measured the benefits of removing through traffic from the town centre and found that business improved for most businesses surveyed. #BTYSTE2024 #BTYSTE
This study from C.B.S. Thurles examined accessibility in the public realm in several midlands towns and found that the quality of the walking infrastructure, particularly footpaths, was an important factor in accessibility for people with disabilities. #BTYSTE2024 #BTYSTE

Spent a great couple of hours at the Young Scientists Exhibition today and as always there were lots of fascinating projects with great interest in topics like AI, disinformation, road safety, carbon emissions and mental health.

The first one that caught me eye coming in the door was this study on the psychological impact of poor urban design by a student from Christ King Secondary School in Cork. #BTYSTE2024 #BTYSTE
