IMHO someone got paid off to get Vinnik out of US custody. Whether it was #Trump and/or his negotiator / crypto partner #SteveWitkoff just taking a bribe or Putin who got paid off to ask for Vinnik we may never know.

Fun fact: BTC-e is known to have been involved in laundering money for #Russia's use in #Ukraine way back in 2015/2016, in the early #Donbas battles.

#AlexanderVinnik, the OG russian crypto money launderer and ransomware facilitator who ran BTC-e and laundered billions of dollars of Russian money through crypto way before that was cool (he was arrested in 2017) got let out of prison, apparently in a prisoner swap.

BTC-e was also involved in the legendary #MtGox hack (IIRC a lot of stolen #bitcoin was laundered through BTC-e).

Suspect there's a lot of reasons Putin and the rest of the oligarchs wanted Vinnik released (and why Trump wanted to release him).
