@ret this is where things like #AutonomiDweb will come in. Once they've outlawed VPNs people will be forced to look for tech that defies regulation and enforcement.

I like this and have been thinking along these lines as part of my Dweb project. In fact I implemented a traditional web ring on one of the early iterations, and always thought we need to build on human created trust.

I agree with @Quasit that we also need infrastructure independent of malevolent forces.

All the pieces are falling into place though. I built web publishing and viewing on #p2p with #AutonomiDweb which would combine perfectly with this. See http://toast.happybeing.com

@me have s look at #AutonomiDweb and I'll help if I can.

@BryanGreyson
You might also like Autonomi for which I built #AutonomiDweb. Autonomi is a decentralised network built for privacy and security, and permanent data storage.

My project enables publishing of websites and web apps using standard tools exactly as they would be for the regular web.

My blog explains current status and can itself be viewed on Autonomi as well as in the web here: https://toast.happybeing.com

@nuintari I made a proof of concept p2p based GitHub a few years ago in anticipation of the Autonomi p2p storage network.

Since then I made #AutonomiDweb on the live network, which means that web apps and websites remain available regardless of owners disappearing, services being discontinued etc. No domain renewals and no link rot.

This is a step forward that scales without cost, on which we can build a new, open, verifiable, perpetual #p2pgit (hub) without benign (or otherwise) dictators.

@kendraio One of my goals for #AutonomiDweb was to make delivery of secure, privacy first, peer-to-peer web apps and websites as easy as possible. Anyone can now do this with existing web tooling and a tailored REST API for #p2p storage and access of data on Autonomi's autonomous p2p network.

Data that is totally private, accessible forever, and versioned publishing so every version of every app and website is always available - like the Internet Archive built in. No link rot.

@peersky Would love to see PeerSky publishing to #AutonomiDweb. I have tried to interest folk in working on this but not happening yet AFAIK.

@teleclimber I'm not saying it can do everything yet, but it can already do a lot. You can deploy websites and build dynamic web apps that anyone can use with an enabling app and their standard browser.

Builders can use standard tooling and their existing web skills. I have a Publii blog which anyone can view if they are running the #AutonomiDweb app.

The same blog is deployed on regular web hosting here and includes a recent summary of what is available already:

@teleclimber self hosting isn't a business model, partly because it's unfeasible for people. That's why we have service models: they make money and people can use them.

We can though eliminate the need for self hosting and service models using #p2p as in #AutonomiDweb which eliminates the need for domains, hosting and no need for deep pockets in order to reach global scale.

@scrwd
I'm not sure what you are looking for so this may not be relevant but you can check it out quickly on my blog and try it yourself with a single download of the Dweb app. It's still early beta but I am very excited about it!

#AutonomiDweb is a way to build secure #p2p websites and dynamic web apps that use a REST API and any standard web tooling/frameworks that generate static HTML.

5 minute summary on my Publii blog: https://toast.happybeing.com

I hope it's of interest.
