"Play the game better than they can" -- a new post in my blog about food and grocery savings.

The post is about the ways food manufacturers and retailers work to manipulate your choices, and how to outwit them at their own game.

Play the game better than they can

When you pay attention to what happens when you shop for food, it’s easy to become cynical.  The moment you enter a store, or visit a web ...

Part 2 of "Make a saving plan" is now up on At Home With Don, my blog about ways to save on groceries and household goods.

Today I'm going to set up a separate Mastodon account for blog promotion, so if the site is not of interest to everyone, those posts will be separate.

The site uses no SEO and is not indexed by search engines; your boosts and referrals are my only marketing tools!

Smart grocery shopping, cooking, and menu ideas. Come along as we beat the system, love our homes and families, and save money every day when we buy and serve food.

What if a web site didn't use SEO, didn't have popups, didn't have advertising, and never used AI?

That would be my new blog on food and grocery savings, At home with Don.

New post is up, part 1 of "Make a saving plan. Work it" including the story of how I save more than $300/year on coffee beans for home.

The food we prepare is "an outward and visible sign*" of our love for our families.

"Worth Nothing. Worth Everything" speaks to that idea.

*I was raised an Episcopalian. When you are confirmed at about age 12, in a service led by the local Bishop, they ask you, "what is confirmation?" The answer is "An outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace."

Worth nothing. Worth everything.

If we can be mindful, there are wondrous things around us all the time. I've thought a lot about the nature of recurrences --the rhythm...

So I am trying something a little different for a "smart food shopping" blog I have started.

It's not indexed by search engines, and I am not going to let SEO or AI anywhere near the publication. There will be no ads or paywall, ever (although there is a "Ko-fi" link.) The goal is to rely on word-of-mouth, so your boosts would help! Design and layout are evolving.

It's #AtHomeWithDon

Filter out or follow the hashtag as you wish!
