Doing some work on the #Ashet #HomeComputer again.

Today: Adding 16 megs of RAM to the machine. This is one of the towers in the box on the mainboard.

You can see both my current setup of the computer, as well as some code documentation on the SPI signals, and the actually generated signals from the logic analyzer. It was quite the work to get the two sync up, also figuring out that the ONE ram i'm observing is flaky and had to be resoldered to work.

Now: MORE RAM!

#embedded #maker #hacking

Doing some #embedded #hacking:

Building myself a stacked memory from #spi ram chips.

This is for the #Ashet home #computer, an self-made #homecomputer project. Using serial #ram instead of parallel ones to save myself from #soldering hell.

Luckily, vertical structures save myself from making a complex layout that handles all those 7 lane crossovers. This way, i just have to handle the /CS pin, all others are shared anyways

I just got two old screens by WINCOR NIXDORF and threw my OS onto it (luckily those monitors come with DVI-I).

What you see is #Ashet OS running in #QEMU on the virt platform, but full screen on a physical monitor.

I like the vibes it gives me. Truly looks like a real OS now.
