By 2050 projections have 80% of the roughly 10 billion people on earth living in urban regions. Global average temperatures are likely to be 2-3 degrees C above pre-industrial levels and extreme conditions may render swathes of the planet effectively uninhabitable. #UrbanWater scarcity will be rampant. The availability of fresh water is rapidly changing all over the world, creating a tenuous future that requires attention from policymakers and the public.

"... if you don't grade firmly with strict deadlines, then how on earth will your students be prepared for THE REAL WORLD!?"

What I say: "that's a reasonable concern, that invites us to reflect on the several vital responsibilities we have as lecturers and, as importantly, mentors."
