Welcome back to the #LycorisRecoil #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 3, "More haste, less speed."
Man, did I forgot how much I don't care about the D.A. parts of the story. Without getting into material later in the series, it feels like the series wants to have its cake and eat it in terms of whether D.A. is dystopian or a necessary evil for badassery. At least this episode gave us the Chisato spin and the return punch.
Welcome back to the #LycorisRecoil #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 2, "The more the merrier."
This is another fun early episode as Chisato and Takina are tasked with protecting a hacker in a situation that's more complicated than at first glance. The foreshadowing continues to be well-crafted, along with the idea of how much being a Lycoris fucks with you, but the reminder that it's been a month since the end of the first episode feels bizarre.
Welcome to the start of the #LycorisRecoil #animedon #rewatch. Today we're covering Episode 1, "Easy does it."
It's been almost 2 years since this show came out of nowhere and blew up, and this first episode makes it easy to see why. Chisato and Takina make for a great odd couple pair, the animation in both action and character is solid, and a rewatch viewing shows just how many plot points are set up in this first episode alone. The one issue is that the questionable thematics of the series are made clear from moment 1.
Welcome back to the #CyberpunkEdgerunners #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 5, "All Eyez on Me."
While the plot of this episode could've been done in a few scenes and is primarily for the next episode, "All Eyez on Me" functions more as a statement on David's character at the midpoint of the story. He's diving deeper into the edgerunner world, still believing that he'll be able to avoid the fate all cyberpunks share, but constantly facing the reminder that no one's special in Night City.
Apologies for the late post. I've also decided to push the schedule a day forward, so we'll just be looking at Episode 4 of #CyberpunkEdgerunners today, "Lucky You."
The montage episode of Edgerunners, this one shows David quickly learning the ropes of the cyberpunk trade and further developing relationships with the crew, particularly Lucy and Maine. Things look up, until the clouds decide to piss on them. David takes a step deeper into the blooded world he's in, while Lucy reminds him of what he could be reaching for.
Welcome back to the #CyberpunkEdgerunners #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 3, "Smooth Criminal."
David starts off in a rough spots with Maine but is able to get out of it thanks to gumption and connections. His first job with the crew almost goes to shit, but David is able to pull it out of his ass enough that things go relatively well, enough for him to join the crew proper. Things are still sore between him and Lucy, moreso on his end as he deals with how willing it was for her to open herself up right before betraying him. Looks like the only person you can trust in Night City is yourself.
Welcome back to the #cyberpunkedgerunners #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 2, "Like a Boy".
This episode focuses on the end of David's ordinary life and the start of his new one. After getting a Sandy and using it to kick ass, David crosses paths with Lucy and ends up working with her. In between popping a nose cork and nearly getting ripped for his chrome, this is one of the happiest moments David gets in the series. Sure, the attractive woman doesn't hurt, but he gets the feeling that maybe his life is looking up - until he violently finds out how far trust really goes in Night City.
Welcome to the start of the #CyberpunkEdgerunners #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 1, "Let You Down."
Episode 1 is a masterclass in introducing character, thematics, and tone. We learn all the essential details of David Martinez that will inform both his character and the story of the story - he's impulsive and cocky, high-aiming yet stuck to the bottom. The death of his mother only adds to the trauma he's been exposed to, the usage of reptation adding to the sense of stagnation that forces his hand with the Sandy. Most of all, starting with the cyberpsychotic makes clear that, whatever happens to David, it won't end well.
Welcome back to the last day of the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 12, "'DIY' Means Friendship, Always and Forever!"
DIY ends on something of a bittersweet note, with Jobko leaving and the DIY club still not having enough members for an official status, but there's still a sense of hope, both for the DIY club as a whole and Serufu and Purin's relationship.
Overall, while I still like this series, I can't deny some of the vanish has peeled off since when I originally watched it over a year ago.
