Looking north over Christchurch, the red #AuroraAustralis glow can be seen above the city lights.

Deliberately wide open, with near no DoF. Because I can, and if I wanted a sharp shot, I'd use my AF lens. And spend more than 10 seconds composing.

Spotted this parent - the other was also close by, as was at least one chick.
Bit of a dangerous place though - parents had to contend with a harrier hawk looking for a snack.
And, being a site for gravel extraction, multiple excavator tracks crossed the site - surprised the chick had made it this far.
Taken with a lens which would have made a good mycology study.
