🗓️ 1869 – First public telephone exchange opens in London

The first game of telephone started long before
some lump of school (fool) in London decided that they had rhyming
true to death (breath);
yet to be (free)
short of sheet (in the street)
pleasure and pain (rain) soaking my rank and riches (breeches)
outside the near-far (bar)
trying to smoke my oily rag (cigarette).
