Well with the #Antwerp & #AldenBiesen meetings this week, it's been a pretty depressing picture coming out of 🇪🇺. But activists are fighting back on all sorts of issues; we are going to comment on / re-post various items for some cheer and to share some opportunities to take action and get involved.
3/ Today's 🇪🇺 leaders retreat in #AldenBiesen will discuss proposals from hard-right prime ministers #Merz & #Meloni for accelerating #deregulation: * ending "over-regulation" * Omnibus law to speed up permitting * getting an "emergency brake" on new 🇪🇺 legislation considered "too burdensome"
1/ Commission President von der Leyen & EU government leaders meet today for a 'competitiveness' retreat in #AldenBiesen 🇧🇪 VDL, since her reappointment in 2024, has unleashed an aggressive #deregulation agenda Worryingly, she is now getting absolute backing from #Merz, #Meloni, #DeWever & others
2/ Yesterday von der Leyen met with corporate leaders at the #Antwerp Summit, listening to industry lobby demands for further #deregulation She promised she would use today's 🇪🇺 summit in #AldenBiesen to "discuss with leaders how to match the pace you need. It is time to further accelerate" 🚨

Today Commission President von der Leyen returns to #Antwerp to cosy-up to the chemicals & wider industry.

Tomorrow 🇪🇺 leaders meet in #AldenBiesen to discuss further rolling-back of social & environmental rules.
