The Island City Showdown, a baseball battle between Alameda’s two collegiate summer clubs—the Alameda Anchors and the Alameda Merchants—held its inaugural game on June 7. The Merchants secured a 16-10 victory in their 2024 home opener which was first game after an eight-year hiatus.
