As part of our continuous efforts to cherish our IRC community, today a new DNS name has been introduced on the #Aitvaras network - irc.linux.lt - at the courtesy of the domain owners, it is a subtle hint to the large #Linux gang on one of the (+s secret) channels of the network.

And yes of course we discussed iShowStream:

Two major nodes of the #IRC network #Aitvaras have been upgraded to UnrealIRCd version 6.1.10. The podman containers for the services are based on CentOS Stream 10. https://github.com/kareiva/unrealircd-docker https://quay.io/repository/kareiva/unrealircd

The #Aitvaras IRC network now displays IP reputation and supports client certificates. However, the currently used IRC protocol still does not support full end-to-end encryption.
Yesterday, after more than 10 years there was a global upgrade to the #Aitvaras IRC network in Lithuania. A zillion of new security and administrative features are now available on irc.data.lt, irc.vub.lt and other servers, as they all moved from UnrealIRCd v3 to v6 directly in one go. A huge thanks to the team of volunteers that keep the service going for almost 30 years. Does the protocol notation still work? irc://irc.vub.lt/
