The #AfrinCanton declared its autonomy from Syria on #ThisDayInHistory in 2014. It joined with other regions of the north in the #Kurdish-led #AANES government of #Rojava, the most democratic polity the region has seen. It was lost to Turkish-backed militants in November of 2024.
