#AdminAppreciation
I want to publicly acknowledge & appreciate my instance admin @Curator who has received a lot of sloppy, personal criticism of late. I feel completely safe & comfortable in your hands @welshpixie 👐
This is not a hostage toot. I do not know my admin personally. I know little about her. I respect her values & transparency. If I didn't I can easily move. I do have multiple accounts here bc I'm a fedi-fanatic & I use this account the most. I'm happy on Mastodon.art.
To the @admin here on c.im
I'm not sure how you did it, but I love you for this. The dynamically scaling columns in the Advanced Web Interface is an amazing touch and I appreciate this feature way more than you will ever know.
Not needing to zoom the page out when I move over to my second monitor or try to use the left right scrolling on my mouse just to see the other columns is an absolute dream.
Admittedly, there is still a minimum width, but I can manage with that.
And while I am at it, the highlighting of Hashtags in posts and the multitude of themes to choose from... Just wow. Very well done.
Your daily reminder that December 2 is coming soon!
Especially good to consider on this day of gratitude here in the USA.
What is December 2, you might ask?
It’s the #FirstFriday of the month, heretofore to be known in #Mastonia as #AdminAppreciation Day 🤓
Let’s show our support for the unsung heroes that keep the #fediverse working!
Pitch in financially, post their patreon link, buy them lunch, or just publicly thank them at the very least!
We wouldn’t be here without them!

Remember, your server admins do their best behind the scenes (unpaid) to make sure your #Fediverse experience is as smooth, safe, and enjoyable as possible. Many are taking time out of jobs and/or from family whenever there is a glitch or update (or a glitch BECAUSE of an update)
Take a minute to thank your admin, and if you can afford to, see if they have a donation page to help with server costs.

The admins that inspired this post are (afaict) all managing instances that 1) state and follow a code of conduct and 2) have some form of "be excellent to each other" in it, either literally or paraphrased in detail over multiple stanzas.
Sure, there can be admins out there doing a great job for their instance, which might be a collection of nasty people. Tolerating intolerant people and drawing the line is tricky business and a different discussion.
Let's focus on #AdminAppreciation.
