OMG my once perfect handwriting has become atrocious as my dysgraphia's reasserted itself, but I delight in my mind racing in prep for today's PPN Conference on Diversity in Publishing, where I was a panelist in the session "Examining Bias in Design."
What an honor to share the stage w/Mike Nicholls and Nita Ybarraβpeople whose work and values I so very much admire. Thanks, Andrei Pasternak, for your thoughtful moderation, Emily Boyd for herding us cats, and Publishing Professionals Network for producing another inspiring conference!
I was supercharged by Keynote Speaker Alex Kapitan, founder of RadicalCopyeditor.com, on how we can celebrate differences and invite connections by using language as a tool not of harm but of caring and liberation, and the joy in doing so.
Thanks to all who attended. Your questions were wonderful food for thought. It warms my belly seeing so many embracing efforts to be more inclusive in the work we do. π
