AW-Energy's Waveroller technology harnesses wave energy for electricity generation while resting on the ocean floor. After 31 years of development, it's now commercially viable.

The first 350-kW Waveroller was connected to the grid off Portugal in 2019, proving durability despite harsh marine conditions.

AW-Energy is now working on WaveFarms, deploying 10-24 Waverollers on the seabed near the shore. Each unit produces 1 MW of power, with a competitive cost of US$100-150/MWh.

The WaveFarm project aims to add €275 million to the European economy and create 500 jobs over a decade. An MoU has been signed for a deployment in Namibia.

As commercial deployment nears, Waveroller technology could accelerate the integration of wave energy into the global renewable energy mix.
