In the old days, every IT organization had a dedicated, almost sacred role: the DBA (Database Administrator), often informally known as the "Gatekeeper of the Schema." These individuals ensured that the schema adhered to 3NF (Third Normal Form), that the appropriate fields were indexed, that no foreign keys were missing, that data was accurately partitioned, and that the overall structure resembled a proper "Star" or "Snowflake" schema. Most of this was a mystery to software developers who simply wanted to store and retrieve data via SQL, but it was crucial from a resource efficiency perspective.
