“A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” (2014) was shot over the course of 24 days in Kern County, California. Using anamorphic lenses director Ana Lily Amirpour utilized a mix of cinematography inspired by Spaghetti Westerns and German Expressionism. With a cast and crew that’s largely of Iranian descent and the film’s dialogue being entirely in Farsi, it is the considered to be the first Middle Eastern vampire film.
