#Taxonomy
Members of the human clade, i.e. the Hominini after the split from the chimpanzees, are also rarely called #Hominina. Reference: https://www.geol.umd.edu/~tholtz/G204/lectures/204scatterlings.html

The #human clade comprises the genera Sahelanthropus, Orrorin, Ardipithecus, Australopithecus, Kenyanthropus, Paranthropus, Homo.

Their coexistence in Africa lasted from #4Mya to 1 Mya: 🧵

Here is a 🧶#longThread about past #climateChange:
- #oilAndGas and #Permian
- tropical warmth until the Chicxulub impact #66Mya
- human separation around #4Mya
- the last ice age peak about 20,000 years ago: #20kya

Around 20 to 15 Mya, #Hominoidea radiated (no longer interbred) to gibbons, orangutans, African apes.

Then African apes diverged into many species including gorillas, humans, bonobos, chimpanzees. Radiation occurred during 9-6 Mya.

#4Mya: global #climateChange reduced forests and induced more open terrestrial biomes. The great #apes (collectively #Hominoidea) were separated:
- in Eurasia, homininae disappeared (but not orangutans and gibbons);
- in #Africa, contrarily, homininae diversified.
