40 Mile Point Lighthouse

The 40 Mile Point Lighthouse was authorized by congress in 1893. The lighthouse gets its name from being 40 miles south of Mackinaw Point on Lake Huron.
The lighthouse was completed at the end of 1896 but wasn't lit until it was manned and ready during the spring of the following year. The light was put on the National Register of Historical places in 1984.
