The joys of being a third culture kid. I was Foreign Service rather than Military but I had similar issues moving from Iran to Massachusetts. Despite it being my "home" I did not understand any of the culture there. We looked white, but we acted *wrong*. They had no idea what to do with us.

Turns out we also managed to pick a particularly bad town as far as racism, xenophobia, etc.
