There were 66 straw plaiters in Orphir in the #1841Census. In contrast, I found none at all in my #OnePlaceStudy, North Walls and Brims, #Orkney, but plenty of stocking knitters; none in the rest of the parish either. A difference between mainland and insular Orkney maybe? @fionaorkneynews @geneadons @orkney
