Constructed in 1945, no-one is quite sure who commissioned the Kyūtei Omuro (旧邸御室) or what purposed it served.
The sukiya-style (数寄屋造り) mansion sits in a sprawling 1655m2 parcel of land, and given its proximity to Ninna-ji (仁和寺) many believe there was a connection.

For a very brief moment each year Kyūtei Omuro (旧邸御室), an old villa close to Ninna-ji, is opened to the public.
In the villa's sitting room is a low table made from a single piece of Chinese quince.
The polished surface perfectly captures the reflection of the lush green garden outside, bringing the cool shade of the trees into the room.
