Camellia Tea CeremonyKōetsu was a potter, lacquerer, and calligrapher, whose work inspired the founding of the Rinpa school of painting (琳派).
As a disciple of the disgraced tea master Furuta Oribe (古田織部), and thanks to his links to the Western daimyō, the Tokugawa likely distrusted Kōetsu.
