Ein paar kurze Gedanken zu KI. Wie steht ihr dazu?
#künstlicheinteligenz #kollektiveintelligenzI am often asked for book recommendations. Admittedly, I am a very slow and erratic reader, but at → zweifel.jetzt/bibliothek (link in bio), I am now collecting books that have been with me for a long time and inspire me, that are and were inspiring for Zweifel, and that I would like to recommend. Do you have any titles that every designer should read?
Rundbrief 6: Love letters, but as a feminist act.
Two weeks ago, after almost a year, we finally sent out another analog Rundbrief newsletter! Together with graphic designer Laura Markert and type designer Anna Cairns, we created an issue about love letters—the love of letters and feminist love letters.
Laura Markert wanted to design a feminist protest typeface and, after some detours, found a type specimen by the Jewish-German type designer Elisabeth Friedländer (1903–1984) in a Canadian library and digitized the typeface. Anna Cairns provided technical support and is also the designer of CMM Coda (Comma Type), which we have been using for Zweifel for over a year now.
We met in Berlin in the summer and conducted a written interview in the following months. We talked about the political dimension of type design, the first non-male type designers ever, including Elisabeth Friedländer, and about great projects such as UN:SEEN, Same Bold Stories, Alphabettes, and FLINT*ype, which aim to give FLINTA* type designers from the past and present more visibility.
Current and past issues of the Rundbrief newsletter can be reordered via our website! You can also subscribe to the mailing list for future issues there.

We recently started using the great CMM Coda by designer Anna Cairns / Comma Type. The font is based on a typewriter font from the 1960s and pays homage to the feminist history of the typewriter and software development.
“Interestingly, both ‘typewriter’ and ”computer" were once terms to describe the female workforce operating the machines. Starting the late 19th century, typewriters enabled women to pursue careers such as typists, punchcard operators and telegraphists. Because women's work used to be strongly associated with meticulousness, computing was considered well suited to women. In fact, the first people to write a computer program were women (ENIAC Six), the first software engineers in history. Thus, women have always occupied important roles in the transitioning of these technologies." (Source www.commatype.com)
Inspired by ASCII art and the great typewriter pictures by artist Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, we are currently designing graphics and receipt invoices for our new website.
