What this means is that Duck Duck Go, alongside basically every search engine that is not google, has completely delisted Neocities.
Which feels like something a lot of y'all should know!
https://blog.neocities.org/blog/2026/01/27/bing-block
Update: DuckDuckGo at least has fixed this issue, likely thanks to some folks making a good kind of ruckus! Still, I hope this has informed people how much of a pain Bing can be with this kind of thing in general.
House, M.D. on the Nintendo DS seems to be entirely driven by .xml files, uses normal .png files for textures, and normal .wav for its sounds. If you were so inclined, you could probably easily put together a ROM hack that adds new cases or even make a total conversion.
I think the minigame logic is essentially hardcoded, but the layout XML seems to use some sort of command system that seems to trigger animations and draw polygons and what not but might do other stuff too. Maybe you could add new minigames or something if you could figure out how this worked
I don't know what compelled me to take a look at this
Every time there's news from Mozilla we see a lot of takes around here along the lines of: they're clueless, their heads are in the sand, they don't know their userbase.
Alternative interpretation: We're looking at another case very much like Bluesky - a corporation with somewhat-openwashed branding which knows exactly who their userbase is, hates it, and wants a different one.
The rationale is clear enough; the browser is just a massive opportunity for datamining. The "AI" startups can only dream of controlling a browser with even the marketshare of Firefox. In that light, it's no use having a userbase of technically competent, privacy-aware dissidents who can work around the extractive dark patterns. Let's face it people, we're not profitable to surveillance capitalism
Dye leaving for "Meta", to zucky's warm (?) open embrace (handing him a bag of billions) is less of a "coup" and more about how "Meta" is never going to be a serious hardware platform company, and if they ever stumble across "the next big thing", they'll quickly ruin it like they did instagram.
have fun working on google glass 2.0, alan! make the phrenology and clothing remover graphics extra shiny!!
