Cool places in #yumenikki 1: Checkered Tile Path I really like the background music (odd to say that of a ~4 second loop), it fits the location's looks really well and stands out a lot against the unsettling droning found in most of the other locations in the game.
Speaking of looks, the pale-ish purple and the scrolling cloud in the background feels really soothing (I blame the music as well). I don't really think much about the floating lamps, but I guess they add to the dreamy feeling.
The Checkered Tile Path not a large area by any means, but I believe this works in its favor: it's not really fun to navigate because of the slanted terrain and it's depraved of any NPCs, besides the Hell teleport and the lunatic Toriningen. As for the latter, I do like how it's one of the few times you're forced to use an effect to make progress.
Overall, the Path is a surprisingly relaxing place - it doesn't have that much going on, but that void is filled in by the distinct background music and setting. It's definitely a place I plan to stop at and take in for a while, every time I happen to cross it... which will probably not be often, given how uninteresting the places it links together are.
Let me know if you have any suggestions for better readability in the future posts in this "series", I'm pretty sure there's a lot of room for improvement
