Some pics from our Repair Café yesterday in Coventry Central Library.

We had more visitors than usual and had to start telling people they might have to wait a long time only 45mins into our 3 hour session as we already had a big queue by then.

We repaired 30 items including a coffee machine, a china ornament, a jacket zip, 2 radios, an electronic toy, a hedge trimmer, a sewing machine and a pair of boots.

We had a great time at Saturday's "Relax and Make Christmas Green" event from Wirral MakeFest. Thanks to the organisers and all the @DoESLiverpool and @plastacs people who helped out or visited, including Marcus, @Knottyashcreative, @matthewcroughan, Gabby, @arthrowl, Anne-Marie, @jackie_pease, India, Julie, @goatchurch, Russ, Nanette and Nalini.
Here's @zarino with a map produced from a script he wrote to download details from @openstreetmap and plotted on our pen plotter McGraw

Anyone got thoughts on the frame.work laptops?

Worth it or not?

Sharing how I use RSS to track weak signals of what my local council (and other local public bodies) is up to (and/or what my fellow citizens care about w.r.t. them)

McFilter: Weak Signals Of Local Civic Democracy

Letters of Note is a fairly hit and miss subscription, but yesterday’s edition, with two letters from Jackie Kennedy in the days after her husband was killed (60 years ago yesterday) was really touching as I read it over my morning coffee: https://news.lettersofnote.com/p/thank-you-mr-president
Thank you Mr. President

In the aftermath of her husband's assassination, Jacqueline Kennedy writes two remarkable letters

“What Happened to Hackerspaces?” – https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37981294 – I’d be interested to hear what the @DoESLiverpool members and organisers make of this thread from Hacker News. It’s certainly not an easy model to make work, but has it got harder over time? #weeknotes
