I don't have an issue with year based OS numbering, I lost track of what OS # we were on years back (and don't get me started on the names). But really should be current year, not car year.
Absolutely lovely day out today, though.

Hi, I've posted a new update on our Hub about building the new #Fosstodon team and other admin duties. 🎉

I hereby also open the 📢Call for a fellow Admin📢 Send me a dm if you're interested!

Shaving the Yak

Updates from Gina on building the new Fosstodon team and a call for a fellow admin.

How hot is it in Florida? It's so hot that leaving my house causes my Pixel 9 Pro to start lagging.

26??? It's fucking 2025. This is more confusing than the current system!

I'd rather that Apple just end the annual updates. https://mastodon.social/@markgurman/114586924807295547

I'm moving from LibreWolf back to vanilla Firefox. I've had too many issues with LibreWolf that just don't occur with Firefox.
There should be laws against services that require you to email customer support in order to delete your account.
The latest LG Gram Pro line looks like they'd actually make incredible Linux machines except for the fact that they all have numpads and therefore off-center touchpads.
no sorry i dont really use instagram, i can contact you via ouija board, spirit box, fluctuations in temperature, flickering lights, and certain rituals. i am also on mastodon.
It looks like @wallabag doesn't really support imports from Raindrop, which is what I'd been using until now. Bit of a bummer there.

🍰 Seven years ago today, the #GDPR came into effect ⚖️ But the past years have shown that passing a law is not enough – we need to enforce it too.

We made it our mission to ensure that the fundamental right to #privacy is respected by the private sector.

@noybeu (friendly hint that you forgot to add alt text to this post 😉
Thx for adding it to all your usual posts btw, love to see it)
@thibaultmol Thanks for noticing, we've added it now.
@noybeu @thibaultmol If you want automatic reminders when you forget to add an alt text, I personally use @PleaseCaptionBot. You just have to follow it and it will send a reply on uncaptioned media, that you can delete by simply liking it.
@noybeu I completely agree with this opinion. Like many other laws, this law has turned into a method of enriching the state budget, while the victims of privacy violations receive an infinitely small percentage of the fines paid by companies. I believe that a fixed minimum fine should be introduced for each violation—for example, 100 euros for a data leak of names and surnames and passport information, 200 euros for names, surnames, passport information, and photographs, and so on. ⏩
@noybeu Additionally, it is necessary to establish a separate magistrate court that would deal exclusively with cases related to privacy violations

FWIW, there's this GDPR enforcement tracker too: https://www.enforcementtracker.com/
GDPR Enforcement Tracker - list of GDPR fines

List and overview of fines and penalties under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, DSGVO)

@noybeu Wouldn't it be better to just outlaw targeted advertising?
