@jonty ok so i don't really care what happens to nfts or the people who thought they were worth buying, but i'm kind of curious. it seems like there ought to be a way to encode the image data or anything else that makes up the nft into the relevant blockchain itself. did any other nfts do this? like, it's all a scam and get why the people originally minting these nfts don't really care, and i get that the people buying them were never the sort to really think things through, but, still, why not?
ok. so. trump is obviously gearing up to steal the midterm elections. what do we do?
@arstechnica i mean really they should just pay a human to do that quick little animatic or something. but if you view AI as on that level, maybe you'd be more likely to make that choice in the first place? idk. maybe this is a bad take and really we should just say "no AI" or whatever. i don't know what came over me. just kinda barfed out on my keyboard there
@arstechnica like if you're going to use ai *AT ALL*, people should treat it like a low-effort animatic, with the recognition that whoever was in charge was short on time and money and was just trying to fill some gaps on their storyboard. 3/
@arstechnica i'm not saying i WANT that stuff to get replaced with AI, just that i think it's a more appropriate comparison. it's *AT BEST* a quick-and dirty way to create a little bit of visual interest. the idea that anyone would create a whole, apparently "gritty and realistic" movie that's supposed to be treated like something filmed with real production value is deeply messed up. 2/
@arstechnica ai in this context should properly be compared not to high-end live action period-accurate enactments, but instead to cheaply animated line drawings or small scale physical recreations -- the stuff they would splice into an educational lecture video to make it a little more engaging. 1/
@Disappointed_Horse well, we're talking warm weather and nighttime, but just turn on the porch light. may not apply in all geographical areas. also, this was written before climate collapsed temparate zone insect populations. today you'd have to hang out for a bit and collect them one at a time, but back in the day you could just grab a couple handfuls
