5 days until new #DoctorWho !!

Oh, and Christmas.

My favorite thing about today's Doctor Who is the Toymaster having a puppet show about how often the show refuses to give definitive endings to its characters in the same episode as the biggest "have your cake and eat it too" moment in DW history. I'm on the fence about whether it's total self-awareness or no self-awareness. Surely RTD is poking fun, right? Anyway, the Ncuti era has begun! #doctorwho

Tonight's episode was top notch Doctor Who with some dodgy sfx. That's part of the fun! Do your part and suspend some disbelief.

My favorite part was Donna's answer(s) to the question, "Why is Mrs. Bean funny?"

I always wonder about people who criticize bad special effects. What do you care? Either the story works or it doesn't. The verisimilitude of the effects has nothing to do with that. I actually think classic Doctor Who's primitive effects are part of the reason the show survived so long. You had to meet the production half way back then. If you couldn't make the leap from pepper pot to Dalek, then the show wasn't for you.
And, yes I'm aware of their history with "farewell" tours. I actually do think this is the end of touring for the band. I think it's probably the end of the make-up and the costumes. But I wouldn't be surprised if they play a few one-offs here and there, like the KISS Kruise.
Tonight is the final show of the final KISS tour. I discovered the band in 1988 when I was 12. It was love at first sight. Thirty-five years later, I still love this band, warts and all. I'm happy to have seen them live 4 times starting in 1990. Here's a playlist of some less-known bangers.

Regarding the mass murder and torture that Augusto Pinochet committed after Kissinger and Nixon helped overthrow the democratically-elected Allende socialist government in Chile, Kissinger said the following about Pinochet's horrific crimes:

“I read the briefing paper for this meeting and it was nothing but Human Rights, The State Department is made up of people who have a vocation for the ministry. Because there are not enough churches for them, they went into the Department of State.”
