I feel for you. I’m a German American dude married into a family of Salvadoreños and we have illegals in our circle of friends/family. Very few of my family members are taking this seriously or treating it with the level of concern it deserves. People just don’t have the capacity to understand unmitigated corruption and evil. Most people have something that stops them from being shitlords, whether it’s their god, some sort of moral compass, a desire to be liked by others, or whatever. Trump and company don’t have that at all. It’s pure evil and corruption to the core. It will not be pretty when these two groups and their goals clash.

I hope you can eventually find your way to a blue state, but I’m honestly not even sure that’s enough when they’re planning on sending national guardsmen from red states into blue states to do their bidding. Couple that with the fact that elections are effectively over in this country and it paints a horrifying picture for the country and the rest of the world.

I’ve had thoughts about checking out that I can’t share with family or really even online for the sake of triggering others and for fear of giving them credibility in my mind. I have two young kids that depend on me, so I suppose I will do my best. Their German passports arrive this week and we leave shortly before inauguration day.

Trump’s tariffs will wreck Europe’s economy. Refugees from Ukraine will come pouring in. AfD will continue to make gains in Germany. CDU will probably win the snap elections that are coming after Scholz loses his vote of confidence. They’ll eventually work with AfD as voter pressure ramps up and thus give AfD credibility in the coming years.

I’d still take my chances with Germany rather than stay within the USA.

Then leave? Nobody is telling you to be here. It’s still a free country*.
The idea of voting for a candidate with whom you disagree on things upon which you depend for your livelihood or survival is just wild to me.

Assuming they even know the definition of deported. They don’t seem to understand the definition of words. I still think Trump thinks asylum means people from insane asylums.

But this is my fear. They just start stripping citizenship from people who have been here legally to arbitrarily hit their quota numbers. Brown and got a bit of an accent? Naturalized in the last couple of years? Hope you’re not here on January 20th. That day has a very ominous feel to it to me.

I say this as a man married into a family of Salvadoreños. People aren’t treating this with the gravity it deserves.

Your analogy doesn’t work because Trump people hate latinos and it absolutely would make sense for a Trump/GOP controlled USA to go back on an agreement like that.

Hell they’d probably even start using it for nuclear testing again if the fallout would blow over other latin countries. After all, it’s just “an island full of garbage in the ocean.”

/s (I knew what you meant I just hate all of it)

It took me around an hour to do it. I got really dizzy and felt like total shit. I had to fast for a few days to feel normal.
I did this once and shit cold milk out of my ass.

lol.

lmao even.

I’m aware. Been following that as well. I still trust Germany more than I trust the USA. I unfortunately can’t really move to one of the larger cities as it’s pretty cost prohibitive until my wife could find a job. We are going to live in a less populated town for a while and ramp up culturally and see how everything goes. She speaks Spanish fluently, so we may end up in Spain after some time. It’s hard to say.
It’s that damn reality that needs to be punished. Stupid facts and laws of economics making Trump look worse than he is.
