Hot take: the recent acquisition of Prometheus Biosciences by Merck for $11B should be counted as a win for TechBio 👀
You may be saying: that's not TechBio!1!1 😖
Consider suspending skepticism for this analysis:

We're creating a collective at the intersection of *tech* and *bio* 🚀🧬

We're starting a collective specifically tailored for people building (or wanting to build) at the intersection of AI/ML and bio. This program kicks off with a breakfast on April 21st in NYC, a Discord community, quarterly 1-on-1 sessions to guide learnings and help make connections. We're also planning to have quarterly calls with those involved in the collective to specifically tailor the experience to the participants. If there are synergies with folks from our network, we'd be delighted to make introductions to potential co-founders! Read more on the Compound TechBio Collective here. Compound is a team spanning bio, AI/ML, and robotics (among other technical areas) and can help at any stage in your ideation process.

EVERY SINGLE SAMPLE we took in Antarctica as part of our microplastic research contained plastic microfibres.
I found plastic from tourists in the penguin colonies.
We even found a big piece of plastic on the seabed.

the question isn't if we should do geoengineering, it's what kind we should be doing. it isn't if we should start, it's how we should continue. it isn't if we should be making decisions like this, it's how to make good ones.

Announcing "Latest in Bio+Tech" 🧬
I've stopped sending out weekly paper lists through the newsletter. Now I'm adding new papers to an AirTable each weekend.
Topics include SynBio, CRISPR, Bio+AI & neurotechnology. I hope it's useful! LMK what I missed.
Every weekend, I round up the latest papers in biology and technology as part of my work with Codon. Topics include: * Gene editing and regulation tools, such as CRISPR-Cas9 * Advances in DNA sequencing and synthesis * Medical breakthroughs, from vaccines to gene therapies * Computational tools to design DNA or proteins * Longevity

i'm interested in helping bio companies make diligence more efficient.
doing so will give all parties leverage (and time), and ultimately, will enable new investors to participate in the bioeconomy.
