The commemorative statue of Truus van Lier by the canal in Utrecht. She was a member of the Dutch resistance during the Nazi occupation. She worked as a messenger and courier, delivering illegal newspapers and guns. In 1943 she shot and killed the chief police commissioner, a Dutch Nazi collaborator. She was caught, transported to a concentration camp in Germany and then executed. She was just 22.
This is the Eye Water which flows alongside the East Coast Main Line for a while before heading to Eyemouth. Those are mature trees up to their waists!

The fruit bowl is looking very sad.
A stroll along Cocklawburn Beach watching Cuddy’s ducks in the surf and finding my first ever Cuddy’s beads. That’s eider ducks and sections of fossilised crinoid stems for non-locals. The small, most detailed bead is about 3mm diameter.
While it is cutting your grass it is impossible to know exactly where it is in your garden and how fast it is mowing, simultaneously!
