I think it greatly diminished functionality and I actively avoid apps that use it
I tried using gestures multiple times and always went back to 3 button navbar. Back gesture constantly interfered with any kind of side panels and opened apps gesture always triggered the app drawer on my home screen.
Besides navbar is plain faster and offers additional features, like keyboard selector and screen rotation when auto is turned off.

to male this place a bit more lively) let’s talk Big Finish. We finally got the
7th series of Torchwood, Class unexpectedly shown a sign of life, Tom Baker is
still locked up in a BF’s closet, we got (kind off) a continuation to SJA, Once
and Future is a thing, we got ripped off by Daleks! Genesis of Terror and Big
Finish still can’t find a new picture for Hebe. What did you enjoy so far? What
were you disappointed by? What are looking forward to? Anything Big Finish

Seems like there is no way to add new nodes. There is a bus stop near me that’s not marked at all on OSM and i can’t see any way to add it
