Spoiler: Many think the answer is simple - that it’s “confidence” but that’s not it.

Women aren’t allowed to be confident out loud in public without getting humbled. We are expected to humble ourselves & if we don’t, there are plenty of eager people waiting for the opportunity to put us in our place, take us down a notch, etc.

Women aren’t allowed to bask in the full spectrum of confidence.

It’s oppressive.
Not like can’t show your hair in public oppressive, but it’s still oppressive.

There’s an unspoken pink confidence ceiling & if we dare even touch it, let alone smash it, people gleefully wait for blood or try to cut you down with the broken glass.
