Machine translations are often brought up as a gotcha whenever I criticize LLMs. It's worth pointing out two things: Machine translations existed decades before LLMs, and yes, machine translations are useful. However: I would never in my life read a machine translated book. Understanding what a social media post is talking about in rough terms? Sure. Literature? Absolutely not. Hell, have you ever seen machine translated subtitles? It's absolute garbage.
What I'm currently up to: reading Spinoza's The Ethics, seeing if quantum optics is worth studying, and doing homework for GR.
The older gen z desire to want tempered people with good intentions and a healthy respect for expertise to hold power so that you can just focus on your interests without worrying about the state of the world at large.
Learning about Killing vectors in General Relativity right now. Surprised there are not many videos online on the topic.
Could you share with me your favorite styles/aesthetics? What's your favorite image with a unique feel to it? I'm interested in learning more about new styles. Please boost.

my gf has some kind of chronic musculoskeletal/connective tissue disorder thing (diagnosis pending) and we've been struggling to find a workable desk chair for her that doesn't give her pain after only an hour or two of sitting. she has a thrifted chair at her apartment which she broke in over the years, but she can't seem to do that anymore.
we're at the point where we might need professional help to find a chair for her. has anyone gone about doing that/knows what the process is? thanks!
I'd also like to try playing Bridge sometime. I've heard a lot of positive things about it over the years.
I'm reading Winning Ways for Your Mathematical Plays after watching the excellent Hackenbush video on YouTube. I am hoping to play Wff n' Proof since I am fascinated how formal logic can be used as a mechanic in a multiple person game.
I've become interested lately in the mathematics of games and mathematical games. I'm hoping when I head back to university to make friends right away by seeking out mathematicians to play games with.
