How-to: Find communities and subscribe to them - lemdit.com

Finding awesome communities and subscribing to them is likely one of the first things you want to do in Lemmy. It can also be a bit confusing. This guide will walk you through how it works and hopefully improve your experience. The beautiful thing about the Fediverse is you can interact with all federated content from the comfort of your home Lemmy instance. Since the best communities may not natively reside on the server you’re on, the easiest way to discover them is by using one of these awesome 3rd party explorers: - https://lemmyverse.net/communities [https://lemmyverse.net/communities] - https://browse.feddit.de/ [https://browse.feddit.de/] Using https://lemmyverse.net/communities [https://lemmyverse.net/communities] — 1. Once you’ve found an interesting community, click on the community Lemmy link to copy it: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/14253359-c1b7-4d29-8fb8-1cf2b17623f2.png] 2. On your home Lemmy instance, click on Search (the magnifying glass) on the top-right of your screen: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/3acae741-95a4-48a2-a5ed-8340e6643489.png] 3. Paste the link into the search box and click the Search button: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/4ccc0c61-a174-4b21-83d7-13f73119706f.png] 4. Wait! It can take Lemmy a bit of time to find the community. If nothing shows up after 10-20 seconds, try clicking Search again. 5. Click on the search result to open the community inside of your Lemmy instance: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/dc8d07aa-981d-4212-ac35-7a1542a1542e.png] 6. The community page wil open up and you can now click the Subscribe button on the right-hand side: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/46d126bc-5ba5-4b70-a318-47b3b9f84198.png] 7. Sometimes nothing seems to happen after you hit Subscribe. This is a known Lemmy bug at the moment. Refresh the page 10 seconds later and it should show you as joined: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/aeda4064-ad79-4c9d-aa7c-fab538c2b3eb.png] — Using https://browse.feddit.de/ [https://browse.feddit.de/] — 1. Once you’ve found an interesting community, click on the copy link button: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/0aeb15b6-d379-4c26-b184-338f0721dd32.png] 2. Follow the same steps as described for https://lemmyverse.net/communities [https://lemmyverse.net/communities] The only difference is the link you copied is the actual URL for the community page, rather than its Lemmy community link (https://lemmy.world/c/world [https://lemmy.world/c/world] in this example). — Using your browser — 1. Copy the community URL from your browser’s address bar: [https://lemdit.com/pictrs/image/9b20b62f-b7da-4352-b576-d26ef8cc9ac1.png] 2. Follow the same steps as described for https://lemmyverse.net/communities [https://lemmyverse.net/communities] — I hope you found this guide useful. Trust me, I live here and I don’t get it either. And when you ask people they’ll tell you they have guns because other people have guns so they need it for protection. So you guys all have guns because you’re scared other people have guns?? Great recipe.
No not at all! Please please please use sunscreen! Protect your skin! It’s just this specific kind of sunscreen - the spray kind - is just not good. Consider a mineral based sunscreen instead of a chemical one going in the ocean 🤙🏾
Yes, please don’t use it at all if can. Live in Hawaii and it’s awful, truly. And if you MUST use it, please wait the advised 15-20mins for it to sink in before getting into the water! Tourists have destroyed beaches and coral life at Molokini because of this.
